Decorations

Flowers, flowers, flowers.  Fill every vase you have with flowers and then find alternative vases like carafes, pitchers, and attractive bottles and fill them with flowers.  Roses, carnations, tulips, lilacs, lilies. . . anything that is in season in your area.  Let the brilliant shades of color and exotic fragrances blend together.  Mix and match so that each bouquet of flowers represents the many beautiful women who are attending.

Favors

A wonderful, easy gift to make is a floral bookmark for each woman.  Place small, pressed flowers on a strip of colored paper and then add a favorite verse, poem, or reflection using your best penmanship or calligraphy.  Laminate these at a local copy shop.  Punch a hole at the tope of each and then slip through a delicate strand of lace, satin, or silk ribbon.  Tie it with a loop and display across each woman's plate surrounded by sprigs of fresh flowers.

The Art of Conversation

To blend new friends and old, inspire engaging conversation with these starter questions.

Where did your family live when you were six?
When you were twelve?
What is the most valuable thing you've learned in the past ten years?
What is the most encouraging word anyone can say to you?
What is the greatest gift you have ever received?
What's your idea of a truly perfect morning?
What would you do?
Table Setting

Start with a pink tablecloth with a white or ecru lace cover, allowing the pink to show through.  If a lace cover is unavailable, white or ecru place mats can be used with contrasting pastel-colored napkins.  Adorn each napkin with a flowered napkin ring or a single spring flower.  At each place setting put a silver or white porcelain eggcup filled with a pastel-colored candle to be lit at the beginning of the meal.

Reflect light as your centerpiece.  Set an oblong mirror in the center of the table and place a silver candelabra or silver candlesticks with tall pink candles on the mirror's glass surface.  Float flower blooms in crystal bowls filled with water.  Even ornate drinking glasses provide a sweet resting place for a single blossom.
